1. What is métier en tension?
Translated from Bengali.
métier en tension refers to occupations in which there is a regular shortage of workers in France and employers have difficulty finding people. The list of these occupations is revised every year and published by the government. For May 2025, the list was established by the arrêté du 21 mai 2025 and published in the Journal Officiel on 22 May 2025 (source: [legifrance.gouv.fr](https://www.legifrance.gouv.fr/jorf/id/JORFTEXT000051643488)).
2. Eligibility for régularisation (critères d’éligibilité)
According to Loi n° 2024-42 du 26 janvier 2024 and Article L. 435-4 du CESEDA, you can apply for régularisation on the basis of métier en tension if you meet the following conditions:
* You have lived in France continuously for 3 years;
* You have worked for at least 12 months in a métier en tension during the last 24 months (contract-based, temporary, or other);
* You have a current contrat de travail (employment contract) or a promesse d’embauche (job offer/promise of employment);
* You are not a threat to l’ordre public, and you are not subject to any IRTF (Interdiction de Retour sur le Territoire Français).
3. Documents to submit (pièces à fournir)
For your régularisation dossier, you must prepare the following documents:
* métier en tension form (typed);
* contrat d’engagement républicain;
* justificatif de domicile (within the last 6 months);
* passeport, or identity card/nationality certificate;
* acte de naissance;
* 3 photo d’identité;
* déclaration sur l’honneur de non-polygamie (if applicable);
* Your work bulletins de salaire, certificats de travail, attestation France Travail, or avis d’imposition;
* Proof of your integration into society (e.g.: membership in an organization, participation at school, etc.);
* Proof of payment of taxe et droit de timbre.
attestation de vigilance URSSAF and extrait K-bis generally apply to the employer and are not mandatory for the applicant — however, some préfecture may also request them.
4. What if you have an OQTF (Obligation de Quitter le Territoire Français)?
According to Article L. 612-1 du CESEDA, an OQTF remains enforceable for 1 year after it is issued. After that, it becomes caduc (ineffective), but it remains in the administrative record and may affect your file. If you meet all the other conditions, you can apply for régularisation despite having an OQTF, but it may be risky. In that case, it is very important to seek assistance from a lawyer or an immigration organization.
5. What if you have an IRTF (Interdiction de Retour sur le Territoire Français)?
According to Article L. 612-6 du CESEDA, an IRTF is an administrative ban that generally remains in force for up to 5 years. While an IRTF is in effect, you cannot apply for regularization. However, you can request its abrogation (cancellation) by showing circonstances nouvelles (such as: employment, family life).
6. When can you apply?
This scheme started on 28 January 2024 and will remain in effect until 31 December 2026 (according to Article 28 de la loi 2024-42). If you meet all the conditions, you can apply now.
